This isn’t a tale of love at first sight – far from it. As we pulled up outside it at our first open home inspection, I thought it was awful. The roof looked terrible, I hated the layout, the kitchen was new but not to my taste, none of the windows closed properly and the bathroom was horrific.
My husband dragged me back for a second viewing, then a third, and it grew on me. I was also three months pregnant and a bit desperate to quickly tick the ‘buy a bigger house’ box given there would soon be four of us.
We bought at auction. It was a lovely sunshine-y September afternoon when we turned up. The backyard was packed, and there were lots of registered bidders. By then, I wanted the house desperately. Our strategy was to not bid until the house was officially declared ‘on the market’, at which point we jumped in. Two minutes later, it was ours!
The house mightn’t be much to look at, but it’s on 898m2, nicely elevated in inner north Brisbane – near good schools and transport. Do I sound like an estate agent?
Speaking of real estate agents, Michael Petselas from Ray White at Ascot is worth a shout out as he did a fab job!
